The Clinical Trainee Research Award (CTRA) has been established to provide financial support for the research activities of residents and clinical fellows based at Magee-Womens Hospital. It promotes research education for residents and fellows by training them to prepare and write grant applications that include a hypothesis, a study design (including sample size justification), a budget, and a method for protecting research subjects. Funds are awarded to support a 1-year research project. Since the program’s inception, over 100 scholars from the departments of OBGYN, newborn medicine, pathology and rehabilitation have been supported through the program.
Magee-Womens Hospital residents and clinical fellows are eligible to apply. Each resident or fellow may submit only one application per 12-month funding period.
Requests for proposals are issued in the fall of the year, defining the award amount and number of awards to be made. The application requires submission of a 6-page, structured proposal to the program coordinator.
