With the ultimate goal of educating and preparing girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living, Magee-Womens Hospital’s Girls on the Run chapter is a program to benefit girls in grades 3 through 8. Combining training for a 5K running event with healthy living education, the Girls on the Run program helps instill self-esteem and strong values through health education, life skills development, mentoring relationships, and physical training. All of these are accomplished through an active collaboration with girls and their parents, schools, volunteers, staff, and their communities.

Girls on the Run is a part of Girls on the Run International, which has a network of more than 150 locations across the United States and Canada.
