Research Centers

Two researchers in a lab.

Our research centers are dedicated to solving real-world problems and improving lives today and for generations to come. They support collaboration among researchers focusing in specific areas of women’s health. To learn more, visit the research center pages below.

Research Centers

Women’s Cancer Research Center (WCRC)

We collaborate with the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center to help reduce the incidence of and death from women’s cancers by supporting basic, translational, and clinical research aimed at translating novel discoveries into improved patient care.

Pregnancy Adaptation Group

We are one of the world’s leading groups studying pregnancy and pregnancy disorders, including preeclampsia, from a diverse perspective.

Perinatal Biology Group

We study the development of the early embryo and the placenta, seeking to unlock insights and understanding that can lead to healthier fetal development and pregnancies.

Fertility Preservation Program (FPP)

The Fertility Preservation Program in Pittsburgh provides world-class fertility care services for adults and children. The Fertility Preservation Program in Pittsburgh gives you options for having the family you always wanted or adding to the family you already have.

Center for Incontinence and Pelvic Floor Disorders Research

Our mission is to improve the quality of life for women with pelvic floor disorders through comprehensive clinical care, education, and research into prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.

Chronic Pelvic Pain and Endometriosis Center

Endometriosis and pelvic pain affect as many as 1 in 10 women, and women are often misdiagnosed for years. This center approaches care as a unified team by providing Gynecology, Psychiatry, and Pelvic Floor care. The center seeks to improve early diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis and other pelvic pain disorders, and advance research progress through tissue sample collection and coordination of resources.

Obstetric-Fetal Pharmacology Research Center (OPRC)

We are one of three centers nationally dedicated to improving the safety and effective use of therapeutic drugs in women during pregnancy and lactation through pharmacology studies, clinical studies, and multidisciplinary research.

Center for Family Planning Research (CFPR)

We conduct clinical research trials focused on finding new ways to prevent pregnancies and the spread of sexually transmitted diseases that are safer, easier to use, and more effective than current methods.
