Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women’s Health in Pittsburgh (BIRCWH @ Pitt)
The purpose of the Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women’s Health in Pittsburgh (BIRCWH @ Pitt) program is to equip talented University of Pittsburgh faculty Scholars to be independent investigators in interdisciplinary research in women’s health.
MARS Faculty Scholars
The Magee Auxiliary Research Scholar (MARS) endowment has been established to provide a conduit for a researcher as she/he transitions to an independent investigator.
MWRI T32 In Reproductive Sciences
The goal of the RDGF Training Program is to attract and recruit the most qualified graduate students (PhD or MD/PhD) and postdoctoral fellows (MD or PhD) to pursue training and careers in the reproductive sciences
MWRI Fellowship
Magee-Womens Research Institute (MWRI) is committed to providing outstanding training and research experience in reproductive biology and development and proud to support the advancement of graduate students and fellows in the Health Sciences Schools of the University of Pittsburgh via the MWRI Fellowship Program.
Amy Roberts Health Promotion Research Award
The Amy Roberts Health Promotion Research Award was established to assist the research activities of young investigators affiliated with the Magee-Womens Research Institute (MWRI) or sponsored by a MWRI member who are studying health promotion and wellbeing.
Clinical Trainee Research Award (CTRA)
The MWRI Clinical Trainee Research Award (CTRA) was established to promote education, develop research performance, and enhance the research program of MWRI through training and scientific publications.
College Summer Internship Program
The College Summer Internship Program at Magee-Womens Research Institute provides students with the opportunity to participate in basic, translational, or clinical scientific research with the goal of interesting students in biomedical research as a potential career.
Research Student Training Program (RSTP)
Our Research Student Training Program provides practical experience and insight in a particular field of study. This program enables students to learn the rationale, design strategies, methods and other aspects of biomedical research and engage in studies under the direct supervision of experienced researchers.
High School Summer Internship Program
Our High School Summer Internship Program provides students with the opportunity to participate in basic, translational, or clinical scientific research with the goal of fostering interest in biomedical research as a potential career.
High School Research Trainee Program
In collaboration with the University of Pittsburgh, Magee-Womens Research Institute (MWRI) offers a High School Research Trainee Program separate from the Magee-Womens Research InstituteSummer High School Internship Program. The High School Research Trainee Program is a non-paid research training program offered throughout the year
Graduate Students
Magee-Womens Research Institute (MWRI) is committed to providing an outstanding training environment and research experience in reproductive biology and development to graduate students from all Health Sciences Schools of the University of Pittsburgh.
Frontiers Advanced Training Courses
From med students to clinical professionals, learn research strategies and state-of-the-art methods on cellular, molecular and genetic approaches for advancing Cancer Stem Cell Research, Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) and the mechanisms of aging and pregnant addicts and their babies.
Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair (PRSEF) High School Internship
In 2020, MWRI is pleased to offer two internships to outstanding PRSEF participants whose projects and/or interests align with MWRI’s mission of improving the lives of women through women’s health research.
Steve Caritis Endowed Obstetrics Research Fund for Residents and Fellows
The purpose of this Fund is to encourage obstetrics research among trainees of the Magee-Womens Hospital Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences. Each resident or fellow proposal must involve a University of Pittsburgh faculty mentor who will be committed to the project through its completion.
MWRI-PSB Collaborative Seed Grant
The MWRI-PSB Collaborative Seed Grant program, sponsored by Magee-Womens Research Institute, Erie Campus, was established to promote collaboration between investigators of Magee-Womens Research Institute (MWRI) and Penn State Behrend (PSB). These funds are designed to provide short-term funding for a pilot project or to fund a new direction of an existing project that will lead to competitive applications for externally sponsored grants. While the project may be completed on one campus, this grant intends to foster active participation from researchers on both campuses.
