Magee-Womens Research Institute is the largest free-standing research institute devoted solely to women’s health, and it is the top institute funded by the National Institutes of Health for Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences. Across the street from the research institute is the renowned UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital, one of the largest women’s hospitals in the US, and a National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health. UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital delivers nearly 9,000 babies annually, and has the largest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Pennsylvania, treating more than 1,800 seriously or critically ill babies each year.
