Young girls from across the region meet female professionals who work in fields of science, technology, engineering and math.
Magee-Womens Research Institute (MWRI) partnered with Carnegie Science Center as a host for a ‘Tour Your Future’ event, where young girls from across the region meet female professionals who work in fields of science, technology, engineering and math. Tour Your Future is a career exploration program that gives girls, ages 11-17, an opportunity to meet female professionals who work in various organizations. The program shows girls that they can find a place in science by introducing them to diverse STEM careers -- from avian zoologists and accountants to software engineers and surgeons -- at their work sites. At MWRI, girls learned about cutting-edge research being done in women’s reproductive health, including how worms might be the key to fertility. Participants conducted hands-on exercises, including using 3-D printed models.
