Apr 17, 2017
Researchers and staff at Magee-Womens Research Institute are planning to support the March for Science which takes place on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22, 2017. There will be a series of marches in over 300 cities including Pittsburgh and across the world, with the main march held at the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
The mission of March for Science is to celebrate scientific discovery and a call to support and safeguard the scientific community. The event announcement states, “It is time for people who support scientific research and evidence-based policies to take a public stand and be counted.”
Dr. Yoel Sadovsky, Director of Magee-Womens Research Institute, commented on the march, “MWRI is a world leader in reproductive sciences and women’s health research. We stand proudly with the scientific community to support the March for Science. Specifically, our research in the fields of early human development, reproductive medicine, and the health and wellness of women needs to remain a top priority because of their vital relevance to women, children and human populations globally.”
The Pittsburgh march will start at noon on Saturday, April 22 at Bigelow Boulevard. Several speakers are expected to present before the march begins. MWRI will have a booth at the event, and MWRI scientists and supporters will march together.
