MWRI's Dr. Janet Catov Delivers Lecture at Annual SMFM Meeting
Jan 17, 2017
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death among women. During pregnancy, women may show early signs of developing CVD in the future. But could the amount of physical activity during and after pregnancy affect future risks of CVD?
A recent study by Dr. Janet Catov examines how women with consistent low physical activity during and after pregnancy have a higher waist-to-hip ratio and thus an increased risk of developing CVD. Dr. Catov commented on the study, “Pregnancy is an important time to make healthy changes, and this could be as important for mom as for her growing baby. Our study suggests that increasing physical activity during and after pregnancy may have lasting benefits.”
Dr. Catov will be delivering a lecture discussing her study and hypotheses at the SMFM Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, January 27, 2017, 3:45 P.M. in Augustus III-IV at Caesars Palace.
